Systems don’t always work for Native people and we rarely see change until we demand accountability. We believe the people most impacted by policy should have a leading voice in shaping it. Sweetgrass works to create opportunities for Native community members to develop policy ideas, shape amendments, testify at the Capitol and lead the change they want to see across Colorado. For survivors, this work is especially powerful as it creates space to reclaim their voice, turn lived experience into action and help change the systems that have too often failed them. Issues that Native people face will always have Native solutions. These are some of the bills and policy initiatives we have directly worked to advance in the last few years.
